More importantly, who understands that Deloris Jordan is negotiating something bigger than another endorsement cheque? The film is really about recognising leverage before the market has language for it.

Does the Basketball Hold Up?
There is almost no live basketball, yet the entire movie is basketball culture: scouting language, brand hierarchy, signature shoes, athlete marketing and the moment a player stops being inventory for a company and starts becoming a business platform of his own. The absence of a traditional game is almost the point.

The pitch built around Jordan highlights and the idea that the shoe should belong to him, not merely feature him. The basketball is archival; the consequence is everywhere in the sport now.
