A modest, likeable basketball coming-of-age movie with a better training arc than expected. Not elite, but comfortably above disposable kids-sports filler.

The Take
Chang Can Dunk starts with a very modern teenage problem: he does not only want to improve, he wants the improvement to prove something publicly. The dunk bet turns training into status, social media and insecurity. The movie is strongest when it stops asking whether Chang can jump high enough and starts asking why being seen doing it matters so much.

Does the Basketball Hold Up?
The training progression gives the film credibility. Jump mechanics, strength work and repeated failure make the eventual improvement feel earned instead of magical. It is still a Disney movie and the timeline is tidy, but at least the body has to do the work.

Best Basketball Moment
The first clean dunk after all the failed attempts. The payoff works because the movie has spent enough time on the ugly repetitions before the highlight.
